Following the partnership’s highly successful Primary PE and sport CPD programme 2007/2008, at which over 250 colleagues participated in 20 different courses, further CPD opportunities have been organised for the 2008/2009 academic year.

The courses are all free of charge to teachers, AOTT’s, parents and coaches working or volunteering in infant, junior, Primary and special schools across the boroughs of Woking and Surrey Heath.

CPD courses are a great way of ensuring high quality PE and sport is delivered in your school: the opportunities detailed below will help colleagues to increase their knowledge, skills, understanding and effectiveness in the delivery of high quality PE and sport.

Primary schools within NWSSSP are able to claim up to 9 days supply funding from the school sport partnership each year in order to develop high quality PE and sport.

Schools wishing to claim either a half or full day supply to release colleagues in order to participate in the CPD courses should complete a claim form and send it to j.davidson@wcsc.org.uk

Some of the courses have been set up to support colleagues with preparing teams for the inter school sports events organised by the school sport partnership. These include the dance, gymnastics, sports hall athletics, badminton and mini basketball courses.

If your school is not entering an inter school sports event but you and / or a colleague would like to attend the relevant CPD course, you are very welcome to participate.

How to Book Places on the Courses

Should you and / or your colleagues wish to book on to any of the courses, please complete the booking form at the back of this document and return it to June Davidson at The Winston Churchill School, Hermitage Road, St John’s, Woking, Surrey GU21 8TL or j.davidson@wcsc.org.uk by the appropriate closing date.

Following the receipt of a completed booking form, a letter of confirmation will be sent to participants. All bookings are therefore subject to written confirmation.

Should you or a colleague book on to a course and no longer be able to participate, please inform June Davidson. Should you or a colleague not participate in a course at which you were expected, a charge of £20 will be made to your school.

Should you wish to set up a training course specifically for you and / or your colleagues at school, or need some training to support you with delivering another area of PE and sport at your school, please contact your SSCo who will be happy to help.

Should you have any queries about the courses detailed below, please do not hesitate to contact your SSCo, June Davidson on the details above or Laura Smith , Partnership Development Manager on 01483 485274 or l.smith@wcsc.org.uk
